Alumni Spotlight - Jon Bullock, Class of 2008

Jon Bullock Alumni Spotlight 1Which schools did you attend? What year did you graduate?
I spent my early years at Kenwood Elementary school in Clawson before attending John page Middle school and eventually graduating at Lamphere in 2008.

Where do you live now? Madison Heights, Michigan

Jon Bullock Alumni Spotlight 2Tell us about what you've been doing since graduation. (Work, College, Travel etc):
After graduation I attended Oakland Community College for a year before switching schools and attending Itt-Technical Institute. While going to school I was a Manager at Cottage Inn Pizza in Southfield. Which is about the time that I was more focused on making money than I was in my studies. In that time I had moved out of my parents house and found a place to myself.

Around 2011, I took a job offer that set the foundation for where I am today. Die Services International was the company where I held a number of positions over my 4 years working there. I starting off in the quality department where I inspected parts before shipment to customers. I also ran shipping and receiving department. After a good year of that, while assuming my Quality, shipping and receiving duties, I started to help the afternoon shift (Maintenance) with anything that he couldn't do by himself. After a few months of juggling job duties I was officially part of the maintenance department where I spent the next 3 years. I learned so much over that time.

In August of 2014 I had received a job offer from Crane Technologies where I still work today as a crane technician. We service mostly overhead bridge cranes. The brunt of my travels have been for work except for some weekend camping trips. My company has a contract with the United States Navy, where we build all the Navy's new cranes. I have traveled to Portsmouth, New Hampshire and Kittery, Maine and Kings Bay Georgia, Albany Georgia.

In 2015 I met the love of my life. We plan to get married this year on October 7th. We plan to travel together, in addition to this, we plan to open a business or two together, and eventually start a family.

Jon Bullock Alumni Spotlight 3Tell us about your family and/or hobbies:
My family is definitely a group of hardworking individuals. My Mother Julie works at Colliers International as a real estate broker, my father works for PacSpec as a truck driver, my younger brother James (Lamphere Grad 2012) works full time while a student at OCC studying entrepreneurship. My youngest brother Nick is a senior at Lamphere while completing co-op with Colliers international.

How did your years at Lamphere affect your life?
My years at Lamphere were some of the best years of my life. I met life long friends, I played the sports that I love, I made so many memories, and can honestly say that my high school experiences have help shape me today.

If you had a message for current Lamphere students what would it be?
When you face obstacles, keep your eye on your goals that you set forth. You can do anything that you put your mind to.
