Lamphere Virtual Learning

Dear Lamphere Families,

To all of you who have selected to participate in the Lamphere Virtual Learning option through Edmentum/Calvert Learning. A Virtual Coordinator has been assigned to each of the students K-12 and will be contacting you via email next week with instructions about logins and modules.  A Zoom meeting introducing you and your child to the Virtual Coordinators will be held for introductions before your child will be able to begin their virtual classes on September 2.  We have opted for this date to ensure that both remote learning and Lamphere Virtual programs are implemented smoothly, with technological support available for all, as needed.  Many of you are anxiously awaiting information about the structure of this program and how to help your child be successful.  You are welcome to visit the Edmentum Parent Support website to learn more about the program.  You can find specifics about our chosen plan by clicking on the Calvert Learning, Exact Paths and Courseware Learning Links. There is a great deal of information to learn but rest assured that we will be here to support you and your child as we venture down this new road together.

Elementary Only

In addition to the Calvert Learning curriculum, your child will be invited to a daily Rise and Shine Gym Class (8:30 a.m.) and a Morning Meeting (9:00 a.m.) with their grade level teachers.  While participation in these opportunities are optional, we believe that  staying connected to their peers will be invaluable for social emotional growth and a successful transition back to school.

Secondary

Your Virtual Coordinator will enroll each student, grades 6-12 into their respective virtual curriculum (Edmentum).  Students will be enrolled in their required core classes and electives that were chosen on their Course Selection Sheet.  We will work with students regarding elective courses and try to match what they initially chose on their Course Selection Sheet to what is offered in Edmentum. Students who were a part of the Lamphere Band program may continue, even while enrolled in Lamphere Virtual. Students will be registered late next week and you will be informed as soon as their schedule is accessible along with additional information about using Edmentum and Canvas.

Our Virtual Coordinator and mentor teachers will be closely monitoring your child’s progress with the curriculum and will stay connected with you every step of the way.  As we face this new style of learning, we will be providing additional reading intervention support for those that require it. Special Education support will be provided for those with IEPs during regular school hours. You will be contacted by our Special Education staff to discuss the individual plan for your child at the start of the school year.

We are looking forward to connecting with you regarding your child’s learning plan. Thank you for trusting Lamphere Schools to provide your child with a positive learning experience during this difficult time. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your building administrator.

Sincerely,

Dale Steen, Patrick Dillon, Greg Fuller and Jane Jurvis
