Edmonson Elementary named Lighthouse School

Edmonson Elementary announced today the school has been named as a Leader in Me Lighthouse School by Franklin Covey Co. (NYSE: FC). Many Leader in Me schools measure success by working toward FranklinCovey’s Lighthouse Certification, which is a highly-regarded milestone.  Edmonson is only the 31st school in Michigan to achieve this certification. Lighthouse Certification is evidence that Edmonson has produced outstanding results in school and student outcomes, by implementing the process with fidelity and excellence and evidence of the extraordinary impact that this program has had on our students, staff, and school community.

“To us this is the result of four years of hard work and dedication to the Leader in Me paradigms and principles and we are beyond excited and grateful to have achieved this recognition,” said Amy Guzynski, Edmonson Principal. “To our students and their families this means that we are teaching the whole child.  Leader in Me is a social-emotional program that teaches students the 7 habits of happy kids, equipping them to become leaders of themselves and others. It means that we believe in the genius of everyone of our students and we honor that belief by giving 100% of our students leadership opportunities in the classroom and the building.  It means that your students have a voice in what happens here and their ideas are driving initiatives. It means that we are committed to going beyond test scores to truly teach your student character lessons that will help shape them into the fine young leaders of the future.”
