Michelle Alexander

Your Name: Michelle Alexander

Hometown: Vassar

Did you go to college? If so, tell us where and if you have a degree what is it?: Michigan State BS in Early Childhood and Oakland University MA in Teaching & Reading

Tell us about your family: I have two sons, Zachary (17), Matthew (14) and a bonus daughter, Jessie (18). My sweetheart, John, is super patient and supportive of my all-consuming love of Kindergarten, knowing that once August hits I am focused on only that until June. My beloved parents provided the foundation of my love of learning and proudly produced two teachers (Sarah, my terrific sister). My in-laws (a retired teacher & administrator) and I still love to discuss the current climate of education.
Our family loves to travel and enjoys learning about new cultures all over the world. Music is important to my boys and we have too many instruments to count. The noise in our home is a joyful one, similar to the joyful hum of Kindergarten in my Hiller classroom I am fortunate to call my second home.

What kind of hobbies do you have? What do you like to do?: Reading, walking Polly the world's cutest Portuguese water dog, listening to my musician sons (Matthew plays tuba; Zachary plays bass & guitar), travelling around the world and cheering for all MSU Spartans' sports

Are you a graduate of Lamphere Schools?: Nope

How long have you worked at Lamphere?: seven years already!

What's your favorite thing about being a part of the Lamphere district?: I love the sense of family. Growing up in a small town, I loved the sense of community and how someone was always looking out for you. Lamphere has that feeling for me. It truly takes a village and what a wonderful village Lamphere is!
