Lamphere Schools is proud to celebrate Sarah Vrabel, third-grade teacher at Edmonson Elementary, as the Oakland County Elementary Teacher of the Year! In a surprise classroom presentation, staff, students, district and county leaders gathered to honor Mrs. Vrabel for her extraordinary dedication, creativity, and impact on student learning.
Known for transforming her classroom into immersive learning experiences—whether it’s a courtroom for persuasive writing, a hospital for math, or a cozy book picnic—Mrs. Vrabel goes above and beyond to make education engaging and meaningful. One former student shared, "Mrs. Vrabel made me love reading. I’m in fifth grade now, and I still love books because of her."
Beyond her innovative teaching methods, Mrs. Vrabel is a leader among her peers. She has hosted teachers from across the district and county to observe her lessons, collaborated on district-wide curriculum initiatives, and mentored new educators. Her efforts have directly influenced student success, with her class consistently achieving some of the highest reading and math growth rates in the district.
Parents and colleagues alike describe her as an educator who makes a lasting impact. One parent wrote, "Mrs. Vrabel isn’t just a teacher—she’s a magician. She creates an environment where kids love to learn, and she inspires them to reach new heights."
We are so proud to have Sarah Vrabel represent Lamphere Schools and inspire students, teachers, and families alike. Congratulations Sarah on this well-deserved honor!
