Friday afternoon cooking lessons are fun and practical as students learn to follow recipes and produce food items that they will enjoy eating. The menu item on Friday, February 21st was “English Muffin Pizza”.
Other student groups enjoy shopping for menu necessities. And plans are developing for a cookbook. Ms. Megan, Ms. Michelle, and Ms. Suzette provide the organization, instruction, and coaching for our Fun Friday Cooking Classes at Lamphere Center.

Micro-Enterprises presented at Oakland Schools Administrative Offices.
Carmel corn and bracelets were made, presented, and sold by Lamphere Center Adult Transition students. ‘Making’, ‘presenting’, and ‘selling’ represent a wide range of skills that students develop here. Community engagement is enjoyed by everyone involved.

Lamphere Center students learn important life skills – like COOKIE BAKING!
Interacting with staff and peers develops social skills and following a recipe increases the ability to focus and improves attention span. The reward, of course, is consuming cookies. Yum!

Community Based Instruction at Lamphere Center.
Social interactive skill development through community engagement activities
and work skill development through job training at partner locations each provide a range of experiences for student participation.
